Extracurricular with Callie

Callie is a freshman at our Lewisville campus.  She is active in her theatre, The Actors Conservatory Theater.  Her most recent full production was with Narnia, where she worked backstage.  She works side by side with the stage managers prior to the shows preparing sets and props, as well as making adjustments needed to assist the actors as they move on and off the stage between acts.  In an effort to make a show run as smoothly as possible, Callie learns each stage hand’s role as well as any cues, so if someone is absent, she can step in and assist.  A famous saying in theatre is, “the show...

A recent issue of Education Week contains an article by Josh Middleton, a former school superintendent, now director of Adult Education in Montana, where Adult Education programs are compared to the typical K-12 programs.  There is much K-12 programs could learn from Adult Education programs.  I compared the standards in Texas and came to the same conclusions.
