Student activities and clubs offer opportunities to explore and create without worrying about a grade. They gain valuable experience.

National Honor Society

The “Beyond the Bend” is the name of our Chapter of National Honor Society. Students with outstanding character and academics receive invitations at the beginning of the school year. The chapter provides leadership to the student body with several community service activities and social events for the students.  Movie and game night is a popular event with free food, games, fellowship and a movie.

Willow Bend Academy’s National Honor Society has received the Outstanding Service Project Award twice; of approximately 25,000 chapters, less than 100 receive the award annually.

Student Newspaper

“Around the Bend” is a monthly publication completely operated by students. Aside from the regular staff writers and reporters, all students are invited to contribute articles. Staff writers and guest writers submit their work to the student editors who recommend corrections and approve the final drafts.  All middle and high school students are welcome to contribute written articles, cartoons, and photographs.

Robotics Club

Robotics is one of the most popular clubs with all middle and high school students being welcome to join.  Students learn the basics of robotics, build their own robots, and control the robots’ movements with a controller.

Digital Video Club

In this club, students learn to produce various projects such as commercials, interviews and music videos. Once projects are finished, they are presented to their classmates. Below is a still shot from the video commercial, “Let’s Get Cooking” with two students advertising ramen noodles.
